Arsenal hopeful of a reduction to Auba's ban

Arsenal keen on getting Aubameyang’s ban reduced ahead of crucial EPL clashes

January 14, 2020 By Ali M.
The Gabonese superstar is suspended for three games after getting sent off at Selhurst Park, thus ruling him out for the clashesh with Sheffield and Chelsea.

Arsenal are gearing up for back-to-back crucial Premier League games but are without Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The Gunners lost their superstar attacker to a three-game suspension after his red card against Crystal Palace but are hoping to get his ban reduced.

The 30-year-old was the north London giants’ goalscorer in the 1-1 draw with the Eagles but was unable to complete the game after being sent off. The former Dortmund ace was punished for a late tackle on Max Meyer, which initially only saw him get booked.

However, after intervention from VAR, the punishment was upgraded to a straight red card, hence the three-game ban. Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta could not even argue with the decision, as the replays showed Aubameyang caught the player in the ankle with his studs, but the north London giants are keen on reducing the suspension.

The club won’t launch an appeal to have it fully overturned, as per Goal, but the Gunners believe there is ground for having it reduced. Arsenal believe that similar offences have gone unpunished by VAR, namely Andy Robertson’s late challenge on Tottenham’s Tanganga, and thus feel their Gabonese forward is being unfairly treated.

Furthermore, Guendouzi and Pepe suffered harsh tackles in recent weeks without any sending offs. The report, however, does not mention when they predict to have their top scorer back.

As things stand now, he will miss their home clash with Sheffield and the trip to Stamford Bridge in the Premier League, including an FA Cup clash with Bournemouth.
