The team's hierarchy is tempted to hire a short-term replacement for the Uruguayan, but fans may be baffled by their current options.

This week has turned out to be one of the busiest for Barcelona's front office.

The team led by Josep María Bartomeu has had to deal with the potential sacking of Ernesto Valverde, and to top it all, Luis Suárez's long-term injury will force the team to hire a replacement for the Uruguayan.

According to Diario As, the team's list of potential replacements is filled with young talents, which may hint that the Blaugrana side will opt for a top-notch move during the offseason.

The first name on Barcelona's shortlist is that of Mexican striker Carlos Vela. The former Arsenal and Real Sociedad man was crowned as the 2019 MVP in the MLS, and his name was mentioned during the 2018-19 winter transfer window as Suárez's replacement. Eventually, Vela would be snubbed and Barcelona would opt to hire Kevin Prince-Boateng on loan from Sassuolo, in what will go down in history as one of the worst decisions ever made by Los Blaugrana's front office.

The next name on their list is Donyell Malen. The 20-year-old striker has dazzled in his first season as PSV's first-choice forward, and his signing would also be an option for the future. Nevertheless, it seems that the Dutch side is not interested in letting one of their gems leave the club this winter.

One more name on Barcelona's wishlist is that of Victor Osimhen. The Nigierian international had been linked to Los Culés during the last days of 2019, and his name has emerged as one of the options for the Blaugrana side. He has scored 14 goals in all comps this season for Lille, but his departure seems far-fetched, since he just joined the Ligue 1 side this season.

The last candidate to fill Suárez's void is AC Milan's Rafael Leao. The 20-year-old has only scored two goals in 15 apps for the rossoneri this season, and his signinig would be the most surprising of the bunch, considering that he has played less than 800 minutes this season. He scored his second goal of the year against Cagliari this weekend.
