The Blaugrana side revealed that the player has picked up one more problem in the same knee that left him out of last year's Copa del Rey.

Barcelona's start of the year has not been what fans expected, and this latest injury update confirms that notion.

Earlier today, the team revealed that Luis Suárez will have surgery performed on his right knee on Sunday morning. The player has struggled with different injuries to this same knee practically since he joined Barcelona, including last year's Copa del Rey, where he was unable to play after undergoing a medical procedure on that same knee.

"The first team player Luis Suárez will be operated on tomorrow Sunday by Dr.Ramon Cugat for an injury to the external meniscus of his right knee. Once the surgery has been performed, the club will issue another press release," the document states.

Although Suárez's recovery time is yet to be determined, the usual number of weeks needed to recover from a surgery like the one he'll have is around six weeks, which means that he could make it just in time to face Napoli in the UEFA Champions League.

According to Marca, the team is already considering to hire a replacement for the Uruguayan, but past experiences on that matter (such as Kevin Prince-Boateng's loan deal last year) may see Barcelona's hierarchy think things through.
