The Red Devils could be without their star defender in the crunchy encounter.

Manchester United has been dealt another massive injury blow with center back Harry Maguire set for a spell on the treatment table. The English defender was amiss as the Red Devils suffered a 3-1 home derby defeat to Manchester City in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final on Tuesday night.

Maguire featured in the weekend's 0-0 draw with Wolves but the 26-year-old completed the full 90 minutes which was believed to be a foot injury. Nevertheless, his side did not issue a statement with any information on his expected return and entered this week's Manchester derby with a centre back pairing of Victor Lindelof and Phil Jones.

According to Sky Sports, the former Leicester City defender has sustained a hip injury and is not expected to play any role in Saturday's Premier League encounter with Norwich City. Per the extent of his injury, his return timeline could potentially exceed January 19 where Manchester United is expected to be hosted by Liverpool at Anfield.

Maguire's latest injury could spell out more trouble for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side who is yet to hit a consistent winning run despite getting good results against some top clubs in the English League. The English center back's replacement for the City clash Phil Jones, has already come under massive criticism for his sub-par showing and could be met with more agitation by the club's disgruntled fans against Norwich, Wolves and Liverpool.
