The Norwegian international has lifted the lid on his move to the Bundesliga outfit.

Borussia Dortmund new boy Erling Haaland has finally revealed why he chose a move to the Signal Iduna Park despite interest from Manchester United. The 19-year-old striker stated that his decision against going to Old Trafford was motivated by the plan presented by Die BVB.

The Norwegian forward emerged as one of the hottest prospect in European football after excelling in the Champions League for RB Salzburg. His eight goals in the competition adds up give him a total of 28 goals in 22 games this season.

Despite the strong interest from Manchester United, Haaland ended up joining Dortmund for just £18 million, penning a deal that will keep him at the club until at least 2024. The transfer came off as somewhat surprising considering that many expected his relationship with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to be a basis for his move to Old Trafford.

Nevertheless, the Norwegian starlet has now explained the reason for his choice, stating that Dortmund looked a more attractive option than the Red Devils.

"The club said directly: "we need you up front. We like your playing style and we want to have you here,"' Haaland told BVB.TV, via Bundesliga.com.

"I liked how they spoke to me then and that's what triggered me. That's when I felt that me and Dortmund was a good match."

Haaland is expected to make his debut for the Bundesliga outfit when it takes on Augsburg on January 18.
