The Black and Yellow have snapped up one of European football's hottest prospects.

Borussia Dortmund has announced the signing of RB Salzburg striker Erling Braut Håland. The Bundesliga club revealed on Sunday that the 19-year-old forward has penned a four-and-a-half deal, ending any speculation of an imminent move to Manchester United.

Håland burst onto the scene with his heroics in this season's UEFA Champions League group stage, breaking a host of records by scoring eight goals in his first six successive Champions League appearances. Currently, he has managed a total of 18 goals in just 16 appearances for Salzburg and his tally simply goes to prove why he was heavily linked with moves to clubs such as Manchester United and Liverpool.

With the winter transfer window set to open in January, the Norwegian striker was tipped to reunite with his compatriot Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Old Trafford due to the pair's prior working relationship at Molde. Nevertheless, it is Borussia Dortmund who eventually made an early swoop for one of the most-sought after youngsters in Europe.

''I had several intense conversations with the club's management team, in particular with Hans-Joachim Watzke, Michael Zorc and coach Lucien Favre. Right from the very start, I knew I wanted to move here," he said.

"I can't wait to get started and play in front of over 80,000 fans in the incredible Dortmund atmosphere. I'm so excited.''

Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc added: "We can all look forward to having an ambitious, athletic and physically imposing centre-forward here at the club.

"Haaland boasts a real eye for goal and impressive speed, and we are confident that we can develop him even further here in Dortmund. At just 19 years of age, he is at the very start of what promises to be an incredible career."
