The Hammers parted ways with the Argentine manager following Saturday's loss to the Foxes.

Premier League club West Ham has confirmed the sack of headcoach Manuel Pellegrini. The Hammers' decision comes barely two hours after Saturday's defeat to Leicester City.

The loss to the Foxes saw the London club drop to just a point above the relegation zone having accrued 19 points from 19 outings this season. Despite spending over 170 million pounds in recruitment this summer, the club has barely shown enough ambition to compete with the top sides, managing just two wins from their last 14 matches in all competitions.

"West Ham United can confirm that Manuel Pellegrini has left the Club with immediate effect," a statement by the club read.

"Joint-Chairmen David Sullivan and David Gold, along with the Board and everyone at West Ham United, would like to place on record their thanks to Manuel for his service over the past 18 months."

David Sullivan added: "It is with great disappointment that we've had to make this decision. Manuel is a gentleman and it has been a real pleasure to work with someone of his calibre.

"However, it has become clear that that a change is required to get the Club back on track in line with our ambitions this season. We felt it was necessary to act now in order to give the new manager as much time as possible to try and achieve that goal."

Manuel Pellegrini who joined the club in May 2018 departs with a 37.5% win percentage having managed 24 wins, 11 draws and 21 defeats in 64 matches. Meanwhile, former Everton manager David Moyes has been tipped as the favorite to fill in West Ham's vacant managerial spot.
