The Swedish icon is looking for a new club, having announced his departure from the MLS a month ago.

The future of Zlatan Ibrahimovic remains up in the air. The Swedish icon announced his departure from Major League Soccer just over a month ago and has been linked with a return to Serie A, namely former club AC Milan.

However, according to Tuttosport (as per the Evening Standard), the 38-year-old has turned down an offer from the Rossoneri and is instead in advanced talks with a Premier League side. They are none other than Everton.

Zlatan enjoyed a lovely spell in the English top-flight, joining forces with Mourinho at Man United after calling an end to his record-breaking PSG spell. He left Old Trafford nearly two years ago after suffering a serious knee injury but could return to the league the Toffees.

Everton have struggled to find a quality striker to fill the void left when Romelu Lukaku left Goodison Park. While Ibrahimovic is no longer in his prime, he is an experienced forward who is proven in the English top-flight.

The Merseyside giants recently sacked Marco Silva and are yet to appoint a new head coach, with Duncan Ferguson taking over in a caretaker role. Everton are reportedly close to appointing Carlo Ancelotti as the boss, with the Italian being a free agent after being sacked by Napoli.

According to the Italian news outlet, Ibrahimovic’s reason for turning down AC Milan is due to their offer. The former Serie A heavyweights tabled a $2.2M bid and an 18-month contract but the striker wants double the wages.
