Ibra slams CR7 as Serie A return is inminent

Ibrahimovic launches scathing dig at Cristiano as Serie A return edges closer

December 5, 2019 By Oscar Rojas
The Swedish ace referred to the Portuguese superstar's stint in the Italian top-flight as a fluke, among other things.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic's interview with GQ keeps making headlines, and this time, the main topic of discussion was his upcoming rivalry with Cristiano Ronaldo in the Italian Serie A.

The Swedish ace and the Portuguese footballer have never had the best of relationships, with Ibra praising Messi over CR7 time after time. But his latest digs in the American magazine are set to cause a stir all over the world.

First, the Swedish player seemed to agree with Jose Mourinho and his "false Ronaldo" statement from years ago, when he answered a question about finding the "real Ronaldo" in the Italian top-flight.

"Not at all. The real Ronaldo is Brazilian. Cristiano is not a natural talent, his talent comes from years of hard work," Ibrahimovic said.

The former Manchester United striker went on to slam CR7's idea of taking a "new challenge", when he chose to leave Real Madrid to join Juventus.

"He signed for a club that had won the Serie A seven years in a row. Signing for a club such as that is not a challenge. If he wanted a challenge, he should have gone to Juventus when they were in Serie B, then take them back to Serie A and to the top again," Ibrahimovic, who left Juve when they were relegated to that league, added.

The tug of war between CR7 and "Ibra" has gone on since Portugal eliminated Sweden from the 2014 FIFA World Cup in a playoff tie. Now, with the Swede ready to go back to Serie A, the duel of these stars will be something worth-watching.
