The Spaniard's current deal ends in 2021, with many suggesting he could leave this summer.

A lot has been said about Pep Guardiola’s future at Man City. There has been tons of speculation about an Etihad Stadium exit, some citing the Citizens struggles this season, others pointing to his history of never staying too long at one club.

His current contract ends in 2021 and there have been no negotiations over an extension since renewing last year. This means as things stand right now, next season would be his final term with the Premier League giants.

Speaking ahead of the clash with Newcastle, the Spaniard was asked by reporters if he intends on continuing with the club. The former Bayern Munich and Barcelona boss admitted he is open to staying past 2021 but confessed that there are other aspects he must consider when deciding to extend or not.

"I'm so comfortable working with this club,” Pep said, as per BBC Sport.

"When you are [somewhere for] five years it depends on the results. We will see what happens this season and next season."

The Spaniard added: "I'm open [to it], yes. It is not about what the club wants or not. For me, I want to see my players and the reaction of my players and everything.

"It is not as simple as I want to extend. I want to see the club, I want to see the players, I want to see how we are still working together.

"That is the most important thing after five years together. You have to feel like we can do it together and enjoy to work together."

The 48-year-old is in his fourth season at Man City and should he stay on past the summer, it will be his longest spell at one club, having spent four at Barcelona and three at Bayern Munich.

Man City’s current campaign could decide his fate. Currently, Sterling and Co. are nine points adrift the lead in their bid to win a third straight title. In the Champions League, the English giants have drawn their last two matches but have won Group C nonetheless.
