Chelsea headcoach has eased the worry of fans after confirming that the injury picked up by Tammy Abraham in Wednesday's Champions League clash with Valencia was not as serious as initially feared. The 21-year-old England international saw his night cut short after a heavy fall saw him being carried off on a stretcher.
Right after the second half resumed, Abraham was involved in an aerial challenge with a cross coming in from the right. However, he ended up landing awkwardly and heavily onto Valencia center-back Ezequiel Garay.
The visibly distraught striker was pictured in tears as he was being stretched off and was immediately replaced with Michy Batshuayi. Reports which emerged in the aftermath indicated that he was unable to walk and was immediately taken to the hospital.
However, Frank Lampard revealed that the Abraham was with the rest of the squad in the dressing room at full-time. "He is in the dressing room now," the former Chelsea midfielder declared.
"A bang on the hip, it might not be as severe as we first thought."
Following the 2-2 draw, Chelsea is now tied on points with Valencia and will be required to beat lowly-placed Lille in its final Group H fixture in order to make it to the knockout phase.
