The highly discussed row between Raheem Sterling and Joe Gomez made its way to Wembley, but the reaction fans had against Liverpool's defender was something no one expected.
If you were not aware of the drama between Gomez and Sterling, Manchester City's striker was axed from the national team by coach Gareth Southgate after a row with the defender, which was apparently not the best choice for English fans.
As Gomez made his way into the pitch as a sub, which caused mixed reactions by fans. Unfortunately for the defender, boos were heard all around Wembley, even if Raheem Sterling was seen on the stands applauding Gomez as he went in.
Once the game ended, Sterling took it to social media to show his concern over what happened to his team-mate. Surprisingly, the striker asked fans not to take it against the Liverpool defender, since he was the only one who should be blamed for the incident that ended with Sterling's omission.
To all the @England fans, I wanted to leave things at it was but tonight I have to speak again : it was hard for me to see my team mate get booed for something that was my fault. Joe hasn't done anything wrong & for me to see someone who keeps his head down and work hard..
