The new format of this competition will see four teams fighting for this award away from home, as the tournament will be held for the first time in Saudi Arabia.

Fans around the world could witness a new Supercopa de España meeting between Real Madrid and Barcelona, as both Spanish giants have been paired up on different ends of the bracket that leads to the final of the recently revamped tournament.

The format proposed by the Spanish Football Federation saw the inclusion of two more teams, and to make things more interesting, it will be held in Saudi Arabia. Now, Barcelona (La Liga champions), Valencia (Copa del Rey holders), Atlético Madrid (La Liga runners-up), and Real Madrid (third-best ranked team in La Liga) will try to add one more title of the sort to their trophy cabinets.

The draw for this competition was held earlier today. The first fixture of the tournament set to take place in Jeddah will see Real Madrid lock horns with Valencia on January 8. One day later, Barcelona will face Atlético Madrid in the second semi-final. The final of this competition will be held on January 12, 2020.

Added to the cup, each team involved will be handed a handsome amount of money if they reach the final. For example, Real Madrid and Barcelona have a plentiful bounty to collect, as they will be rewarded with over 9 million euros (around $10M) for their performance in this competition. The winner of the crown may take home over $12M after bonuses.
