This revelation will only make things worse for the unpopular Red Devils owner.

The Glazer family, the current owners of Man United, are not popular figures among the Red Devils fan base and one former player has now given the supporters more reasons to despise the majority shareholders.

That man is none other than Ander Herrara, the former Old Trafford ace who was named Player of the Year in 2016/17. The Spaniard left Manchester for PSG over the summer as a free agent but he spent enough time at the club to know the inner workings.

The former Athletic Club midfielder spent five years with the 20-time Premier League champions before turning down a contract extension to leave for nothing. He insists that he adores the time he spent under the likes of Van Gaal, Mourinho, and Solskjaer but feels the club is being held back by the owners.

When comparing life at Man United to PSG, he revealed that at the Theatre of Dreams, football wasn’t always priority number one. He made this admission during an interview with French football magazine So Foot.

“I was happy at that incredible club,” Herrera said (as per the Independent). “I am very grateful to the supporters.

“Frankly, I was immensely happy in Manchester, but at the club, there were times when I felt that football was not considered the most important thing.”

“I do not want to compare, all I know is that here [at PSG], I feel like I’m breathing football on all sides. And I like it.

“I cannot talk about what was happening in previous seasons because I was not there, but since I’m here, what I see is that I’m in a club that think only and exclusively about football.”

While Man United continue to grow in worth from a business standpoint, the club still struggle to compete. Executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward insisted that their number one goal is to win trophies but they are nowhere near returning to their best with the current crop of players at their exposal.

Their recent 1-0 defeat to Bournemouth means the Red Devils sit in 10th spot, level on points with 11th-placed Tottenham, 12th-placed Wolves, and 13th-placed West Ham. Rashford and Co. will return to action in the league on Sunday where they will take on Brighton.
