La Liga - Team news, key games and stats ahead of Matchday 13

November 8, 2019 By Oscar Rojas
Three teams are tied at 22 points before the start of this weekend's games. Which one of them will top the league when these games conclude?

Matchday 13 in the Spanish top-flight could be one of the most exciting in the league, especially since we could have only one leader by the time all the games have been played. As of now, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Real Sociedad are even at 22 points each, and their clashes this weekend could see things change due to the rivals each club will face.

The Txuri-Urdin side could be the leader for a few hours, as they will be the ones to kick off Matchday 13 against Leganés. The Basque club will host one of the worst teams this season, but Los Pepineros will have a new boss calling the shots, which means that all bets are off when it comes to motivation for the away team. Let's see if Adnan Januzaj and Co. can live up to the task.

Real Madrid will be the second team in the "leaders' group" to take the pitch when they visit Eibar at Ipurúa Stadium. Los Blancos get to this game in high spirits after their 6-0 win in the UEFA Champions League, but their last visit to this stadium ended in a 3-0 loss, which hints that even if they get to this game in fine form, nothing can be predicted against a struggling side.

Last, but not least, Barcelona will put an end to Saturday's activity when they host Celta, a team that will also welcome a new boss. Los Culés have an impressive record at home, and while all games have to be played, it seems that the team from Galicia may not have what it takes to win a crucial game in their attempts to avoid relegation.

Without further ado, here's what you need to keep an eye on for Matchday 13 in La Liga.

Team news - Who's in, who's out?

Real Madrid gets to their game against Eibar without four players: Marco Asensio and Nacho have been ruled out due to injury, while Gareth Bale and James Rodríguez have been declared as "unavailable" by Zidane. More on that in just a sec.

Barcelona will host Celta without Jordi Alba and Luis Suárez. The rest of the squad is ready to play the last clash before November's international break.

Real Sociedad will have to deal with the absences of two key players, as Asier Illarramendi and Martin Odegaard have been ruled out due to their respective injuries.

Coach's quotes ahead of Matchday 13

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane gave a cryptic answer in regards to the absences of James Rodríguez and Gareth Bale.

"They are not training with the squad. They have done some work on the pitch, but if they are not training with the rest of the team, they can't be available. They are not injured because they are working on the pitch, but we have decided that their national teams have to value their status,"the coach stated.
