Fans will be in for a real treat as Chelsea and Manchester United lock horns in the last 16 of the League Cup.

Preview: Chelsea vs Manchester United

Chelsea will be gunning for revenge as they prepare to welcome Manchester United for a round of 16 Carabao Cup clash. The last time the two sides met, the Blues were humiliated 4-0 as new manager Frank Lampard was given a true baptism of fire in his first ever game in the Premier League.

Well, since then, things have really changed. Lampard has started to settle in to life as a manager in the top tier, as Chelsea have won their last seven across all competitions. Since losing to Liverpool back in September, it's been onwards and upwards for his young side, who come into this game having earned a 4-2 win over Burnley, with American star Christian Pulisic scoring his first-ever hat-trick for the team.

Although Lampard will be quite disturbed with the way his team conceded two late goals after cruising throughout much of the game, overall, it was a strong showing from the Blues, who now find themselves in the top four in the table.

Manchester United, by contrast, have not exactly thrived under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer since racing out from the gates on opening day. The Red Devils have won one of their last five Premier League games and have slid down the table, finding themselves in a disappointing seventh place with just three wins from their ten league games so far this season.

Team news: Chelsea vs Manchester United

Chelsea: Both Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Andreas Christensen are definite absentees for the hosts. Meanwhile, N'Golo Kante and Ross Barkley are serious doubts, and Antonio Rudiger will have to pass a late fitness test.

Manchester United: Nemanja Matic, Diogo Dalot, Paul Pogba, Eric Bailly and Axel Tuanzebe are among those expected not to feature for the visitors for this titanic tussle at Stamford Bridge. However, both Luke Shaw and Timothy Fosu-Mensah may make their returns after featuring in training this week.
