The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich coach has come clean on what his current side intends to do in the Jnauary window.

Pep Guardiola has revealed that Manchester City will not be forced to secure the signings of any players in the winter transfer market. The Spanish manager insisted that he is eager to work with the players he has at the moment and remains reluctant in recruiting new ones for short-term fixes.

Manchester City's Premier League title defense is one that has been met with a lot of challenges with injuries to key players ranking atop that list. Week-in-week-out, the Citizens have lost a host of their star men to injuries and the development has had direct influences on the performance of the side.

At the moment, Leroy Sane and Aymeric Laporte are the two players facing a long spell on the sideline as they recuperate from respective injuries, Just recently, summer signing Rodrigo and full-back Oleksandr Zinchenko found their way on to treatment table while the likes of John Stones, Benjamin Mendy and Kevin De Bruyne have been in and out of the room.

However, despite the plight of City, Guardiola remains optimistic about his chances and is counting on his squad-depth in order to get the results in these times of adversity. The 48-year-old manager has acknowledged that his side will not be doing any business in the upcoming transfer window as no player that meet the specifications of his side has been identified yet.

"I don't think we are going to buy in the January window," he said according to City's official website.

"The Club hasn't introduced players they think can help us. Without that, it's not going to happen.

"The players we need are not just for six months, it's for a long time and I don't think important players will be sold.

"I think we are going to stay the whole season with the players we have right now."

Pep will be in the dugout on Saturday when Manchester City hosts Aston Villa at home. The club ranks third on the league log and are now six points adrift the total tally of league-leaders Liverpool in nine appearances.
