The Foxes have sealed some incredible milestones with the outcome of Friday's game.

Leicester City have landed themselves extraordinary milestones with their scoring feat against Southampton in Friday's Premier League outing. The former champions did not hold back at the St Mary's Stadium, staging an incredible performance to grab five goals in the first 45 minutes while finishing the proceeding with a 9-0 scoreline.

The Foxes headed into the encounter with a record of not having ever won a Premier League game played on a Friday but fancied their chances due to winning four of their last five fixtures. Indeed, the early signs hinted at a festive night as Ben Chilwell opened the scoring for the visitors in the 10th-minute.

Two minutes later, Southampton's chances of fighting back were dented with Ryan Bertrand receiving a straight red card. The impact was felt immediately as Leicester capitalised on the one man advantage to double their lead through Youri Tielemans inside the 17th-minute.

A couple of minutes later, the Belgian playmaker assisted Ayoze Perez for his second of the game and his side's third of the night. The first-half then ended with the former Newcastle striker scoring a brace and Jamie Vardy grabbing his first of the night.

The annihilation exercise was resumed in the second half as Ayoze Perez successfully grabbed his hat-trick with an assist from Harvey Barnes in the 57th-minute. Less than 60 seconds later Jamie Vardy took the scoreline to 7-0 with an emphatic finish from the edge of Southampton's penalty area.

James Maddison then grabbed the visitor's eighth goal with a stunning free-kick before Vardy sealed his hat-trick from the penalty spot in the 94th-minute. Below are all the records set by Brendan Rodgers' side in Friday's fiesta:

  • Leicester have registered the biggest-ever victory by a team playing away from home in an English top-flight league match in the 131-year history of the Football League.

  • Leicester have recorded the joint-biggest margin of victory in Premier League history. Manchester United is the other team to have achieved the feat with their  9-0 win over Ipswich at Old Trafford in March 1995.

  • Leicester City are only the second side in Premier League history to have two players score a hat-trick in the same game (Pérez and Vardy) after Arsenal. Pennant and Pires did the same for the Gunners against Southampton in May 2003.

  •  In the 27 Premier League seasons played so far, only three of the 10,506 games played in the competition had seen a side lead by five or more goals at half-time. The feat has already happened twice in the opening 91 matches of the 2019-20 campaign (Southampton vs Leicester and also Man City v Watford in September).

  • Leicester City scored three goals in just 19 minutes against Southampton. That is the fastest they have gone 3-0 ahead in a Premier League match since doing so in eight minutes against Derby County in April 1998.
