Two records could be set in Man Utd vs Liverpool

The two records that could be set in Sunday's Man Utd vs Liverpool clash

October 18, 2019 By Ali M.
Liverpool will resume their Premier League campaign with a highly-anticipated trip to Old Trafford.

The Premier League returns this weekend and one game, in particular, has fans excited for the upcoming round. That match is none other than Man United’s showdown with Liverpool this weekend.

England’s two most successful clubs will reignite their rivalry on Sunday, with the Merseyside giants making the trip to Old Trafford. Form favors Klopp’s side, who top the standings with eights win from their first eight games. The Red Devils, meanwhile, sit in 12th and trail Van Dijk and Co. by a whopping 15 points.

Many claim that this fixture could be decisive for Solskjaer’s future. Furthermore, the fact that two records can be set in this Old Trafford tie makes this game all the more interesting.

One has to do with Liverpool. The Reds are currently on a 17-game winning streak and are one victory away from setting the record of most consecutive triumphs in the Premier League. They would move level with Man City at 18 and could move one clear of Guardiola’s side should they overcome Tottenham on October 27.

However, first they must beat the 20-time Premier League champions. Everything points to a straight-forward win for the Merseyside giants. Man United are clearly not at their best and will be without a few key players, namely Pogba and De Gea.

Should they suffer a defeat at home, this season will go down in history as their worst start to a season in 33 years. This record dates back to 1986-87 when Ron Atkinson was in charge. He would eventually go on to be replaced by a certain Alex Ferguson.

With a lot on the line for both sides, expect an interesting showdown. Can Man United pull off a shock victory over Liverpool, against all the odds, or will they suffer a defeat at home against their bitter rivals? Time will reveal all.
