The Portuguese ace earned quite a bit of praise from a former World Cup winner with La Albiceleste.

It is not usual to see someone from Argentina blasting Lionel Messi for his "poor performances" with La Albiceleste, but this time, one man who has always stepped up to defend "La Pulga" admitted that Cristiano Ronaldo could be a level above the Blaugrana ace.

Speaking in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, former Argentina coach and current Sports Director for Argentina's National Teams Cesar Luis Menotti heaped praise on Cristiano Ronaldo after hitting the 700-goal mark.

"Cristiano is amazing inside the box, Messi could be a bit better elsewhere. It's clear that I will always cheer for Leo, because he is from Argentina, but Cristiano is simply amazing," Menotti said.

The 1978 World Cup winner with La Albiceleste urged fans to stop comparing both players, since the duo has different skills that should be praised equally.

"I don't like to compare them, it's not good for football. Let's just enjoy them and that's it, because they are one of a kind, their unique in their own way," Menotti added.

"El Flaco" led La Albiceleste to their first-ever World Cup title, which has earned him the right to talk about anything related to Argentine football since then.

The former Barcelona coach looked into how Cristiano Ronaldo can benefit from playing under Maurizio Sarri, a coach that could also give Gonzalo Higuaín and Paulo Dybala a new set of skills.

"Sarri loves beautiful football, like I do. It's a blessing for Higuain and Dybala to have him around. It's the best thing that could have happened to them," Menotti concluded.
