Real Madrid dealt injury blows in Wales vs Croatia

Real Madrid dealt double injury blow as Bale and Modric pick up knocks in Wales-Croatia draw

October 13, 2019 By Emmanuel K. Budu-Annor
The Meregues could lose two of their star men to injury after the international break.

Concerns in the Real Madrid dressing room have taken new heights with two of their star players feared to have been injured in Sunday's encounter between Wales and Croatia. The poster-boys of both sides, Gareth Bale and Luka Modric picked up respective knocks in the Euro 2020 qualifying which ended in a 1-1 draw.

Wales' chances of qualification were almost thrashed after Nikola Vlasic opened the scoring for the visitors in the ninth minute. However, skipper Gareth Bale gave the Dragons a lifeline by restoring parity in the third minute of addition time inside the first half.

At the latter part of the proceeding, the 30-year-forward - who has been in fine form for Real Madrid this season - was seen limping after taking a knock to his calf. With Wales having used all their three substitutions, the former Spurs winger was forced to finish the game with the discomfort.

Relatively, Luka Modric was forced off the field of play in the final minutes after clashing with Welsh forward Harry Wilson. The Croatia skipper was replaced by Milan Badelj after receiving a yellow card for his tackle.

While the latest development presents worrying signs for an already injury-plagued Real Madrid side, Zidane and his technical team would have to wait for the pair to return from international duties before passing a judgment on the extent of their respective injuries. Los Blancos are scheduled to take on Barcelona in just 13 days.
