The Red Devils will have to come up with a better option to fill the space left by the brand currently displayed on the front of their jersey.

Manchester United execs may be facing one more problem away from the pitch, as their main sponsor is set to leave the club by the end of next season.

According to a report by the Mirror, American car manufacturer Chevrolet will not extend their current contract with the club, which gives them premier positioning on the team's jersey. The deal was struck back in 2012, but the brand made its first appearance on the team's kit in 2014. Now, seven years after it made it to the front of one of the most followed teams in the world, the club will need to find another sponsor.

The main problem for Manchester United comes due to the fact that Chevrolet paid over $440M to earn that spot on the jersey. A source consulted by the English newspaper Daily Mail, the American car manufacturer's execs were far from being impressed by the team's performance, even calling the deal a disaster for the brand.

"It was doomed from the start. The feeling within was that Chevrolet had massively overpaid and it was never going to get done again," the source stated.

This development has forced Ed Woodward and his team to search for other sponsors to fill that void when the 2021-22 season begins. Nevertheless, the team's budget will take a serious hit when the end of this deal is officially announced.
