A rivalry off the pitch will now have one more chapter added on it. Don't miss the debut of the Stars and Stripes in this competition.

What has been USA and Cuba's form ahead of this game?

The USMNT enters this game on a three-match streak without a loss, with two of those being losses. To make matters worse, both of those losses came against Mexico, one of them in the 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup final (1-0) and the other one in a friendly game (3-0). Gregg Berhalter's men would end September's international break with a one-all draw against Uruguay.

Cuba makes it to this match on a woeful six-game losing streak. Los isleños have only scored once during that six-game stint, while their defense has conceded a whopping 26 goals. Two of those losses came against Canada, the current Group A leaders, who defeated them 6-0 in Toronto and 1-0 at the Cayman Islands.

How did USA and Cuba get to this stage of the CONCACAF Nations League?

The USMNT made it to this stage of the competition after being handed a bye due to their involvement in the 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers. This will be the North American side's debut in this tournament.

Cuba got to this stage of the CONCACAF Nations League by ending their run in the CONCACAF Nations League Qualifiers in sixth place. The Cuban side made it to League A by winning three out of their four games. Unfortunately for them, their first two CNL games hace ended in defeat, both of them against Canada.

USA vs Cuba - Head to head

  • The USMNT dominates all stats against Cuba, with ten games won, one draw and one win for Cuba.

  • Cuba has not beaten the Stars and Stripes since July 13, 1947. That game ended in a 5-2 win for Los Isleños.

  • The Stars and Stripes are on a ten-game winning streak against the Cubans.

  • Cuba has only found the back of the net three times in their last six meetings against the USMNT.

  • The most recent competitive game between these teams took place in the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup. The North American side defeated Cuba with an emphatic 6-0 score.

USA vs Cuba - Who's in and who's out?

USA's coach Gregg Berhalter decided to leave Jozy Altidore out of this clash, which will prevent the striker from getting closer to the all-time goalscoring leaders for the Stars and Stripes. Altidore needs 16 goals to become the USMNT's all-time top scorer. LAFC's Walker Zimmerman was also left out for this game despite being called up in the preliminary squad list released by the North America side.

Cuba's coach Idalberto Medero decided to leave goalkeeper Diosvelis Guerra out of the squad that will play against the USMNT. The shot-stopper's international experience could have come in handy, but Medero decided to stick with Sandy Sánchez, Elier Pozo and Nelson Johnston to guard the team's net.
