Real Madrid may be the current La Liga leaders, but some of the players that left the club this summer are not regretting their departure one bit. In fact, one of the players that left the club in the summer transfer window decided to share how life was for him under Zidane, and how he does not seem to miss any of it.
Speaking in an interview during his time with the Spanish National Team, former Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos (currently on a loan spell at Arsenal) addressed Los Blancos' situation in La Liga, where they are currently top of the league despite the massive number of injuries his former team-mates have picked up.
"Real Madrid is doing great. I know there have been many injuries, but I'm not sorry to have left. I know what my goal is this season, all I have inside my head is the idea of playing and enjoying myself. I'm really happy at Arsenal. I am exactly where I want to be. I have played ten games and I showed my skills in every single one of them,"Ceballos stated.
Then, Ceballos turned his attention to his former boss, Zinedine Zidane, hinting that he did not enjoy the best of relationships with the French tactician.
"I never had a doubt in my mind since day one. I wanted to go out there, play and enjoy playing football, because during the past two years I hadn't been able to do that. I made the right call when I chose to join Arsenal. That explains why I am part of the Spanish team now," Ceballos added.
The former Betis playmaker had a number of ups and downs with Zidane. One of the most controversial moments between them took place in the 2017-18 season, when Zidane decided to give Ceballos 30 seconds to play in a game that ended in a 3-0 win for Los Blancos. Since then, things turned sour between the duo.
Ceballos is still in Real Madrid's payroll, since he is currently on loan with Arsenal. He may not be playing there right now, but he'd better make sure that the Gunners try to lure him away to the Emirates on a permanent basis if he does not want these words to come back and haunt him if he heeds to work under Zidane again.
