The Gunners host Bournemouth with the sole aim of maintaining their perfect home record against the Cherries. Check out our match preview for more info.

What is the form of Arsenal compared to Bournemouth?

Arsenal head into this tie on the back of an impressive 4-0 win over Standard Liege in the Europa League. Alright, it was merely Standard Liege, but it should be noted that the Gunners rested the likes of Leno, Sokratis, Luiz, and Xhaka, while Aubameyang, Guendouzi, and Pepe were only subbed in once the game was done and dusted. This means they have now gone seven games unbeaten, winning four and drawing three.

Bournemouth, meanwhile, are winless in their last two games, drawing one and losing the other. The Cherries have lost as many games as they have won from their last seven, with three each, drawing the remaining fixture. Of those three wins, one came courtesy of a penalty shootout against Forest Green Rovers in the League Cup.

Arsenal vs Bournemouth head-to-head record

The Arsenal vs Bournemouth fixture doesn’t have a rich history. Regardless, in the few games in which they have locked horns, the Gunners have shown their superiority over the Cherries. The north London giants boast a perfect record at home against Bournemouth, winning their most recent Emirates Stadium clash 5-1.

Team news

Arsenal have received a huge boost as Rob Holding, Hector Bellerin, and Kieran Tierney played the entire 90 minutes in the 4-0 win over Standard Liege and came out unscathed. The latter of the three put in a stellar performance but we will have to wait to see whether they are physically ready to start in the Premier League after spending quite some time on the sidelines.

Aubameyang, who currently averages a goal per game in the league, will return to the lineup. Mesut Ozil has not made the squad in their last two games and will thus play no part in this weekend clash while Gabriel Martinelli is pushing for a start after his Man of the Match display on Thursday. Lacazette remains on the sidelines.

Bournemouth, however, are in the midst of an injury crisis. While Harry Wilson and Ryan Fraser are doubts, meaning they could feature in Sunday’s game, six players have been ruled out. They are David Brooks, Dan Gosling, Junior Stanislas, Charlie Daniels, Adam Smith, and Chris Mepham.

Key talking point: Will Emery give his young players a chance?

While Martinelli was the Man of the Match in Arsenal’s recent Europa League win, he wasn’t their only standout performer. Kieran Tierney was excellent but the Scot is a guaranteed first-team player if fit. However, the focus is on the likes of Nelson, Willock, and their Brazilian 18-year-old.

Pepe is one man under danger. He is their most expensive signing and he was their marquee addition over the summer but the Ivorian is yet to hit the ground running, scoring only once courtesy of a penalty. Martinelli, meanwhile, has four goals from two starts albeit in the Europa League and Carabao Cup.

Willock, meanwhile, has been given playing time but he has found himself on the bench more often than not recently. Xhaka and Guendouzi are Emery’s preferred duo but their academy graduate is knocking on the door. Whether Unai will let start him over the Swiss and French midfielders will be interesting to see.
