La Liga - Matchday 7 preview

La Liga - Matchday 7 preview, including Atlético vs Real Madrid

September 26, 2019 By Oscar Rojas
The clash between the two bitter rivals from the Spanish capital will also determine who ends the weekend as the league leader.

Matchday 7 in the Spanish top-flight will give fans one of the most anticipated matchups of the season, when Real Madrid make their way to Wanda Metropolitano Stadium to face Atlético.

The clash between the most popular Madrid-based teams could also see either one of them become the league leader. In Real Madrid's case, they would hold on to that position, while Atlético needs to claim all the points to take the top spot by storm.

Elsewhere, Getafe will host Barcelona at Coliseum Alfonso Pérez in one of the worst moments ever for Ernesto Valverde as their coach. The current La Liga champions have failed to win all of their away games, and with Lionel Messi out due to injury, Barcelona's chances of succes are somewhat slim.

Two more teams to keep an eye on this weekend are Real Sociedad and Athletic Club. The Txuri-Urdin side is second behind Real Madrid, and Athletic is the only team besides Los Blancos that are yet to lose a game. Athletic will host Valencia, while Real Sociedad will close Matchday 7 in a tough outing against Sevilla.

Without further ado, here's what you need to keep an eye on for Matchday 7 in La Liga.

Atlético Madrid gets to the Madrid derby without two players. Sime Vrsaljko has already been ruled out due to injury, while Alvaro Morata picked up a red card against Mallorca, which will see him miss the clash against one of his former clubs.
