The Spanish goalkeeper is still recovering from a heart attack, and he might have news for fans and experts before the end of the season.

On May 1, Iker Casillas made headlines around the world due to a heart attack. Even after such a serious medical condition, the footballer is yet to decide whether he should hang his gloves or not, but he has recently stated when he will make a decision on his professional career and how he will reveal the news to the world.

Speaking in a press conference at Club de Futbol Pozuelo, a team he supports via his foundation, Casillas admitted that the possibility of returning to the pitch is still there, but he is not ready to go back to his previous workout regime.

"I'm doing fine after what happened four months and 23 days ago. I'm getting back in shape, it's a slow process, but those who had a heart attack know that when your taking meds for that kind of problem, you need to be cautious. This is one hell of a challenge life has thrown my way, but I am thankful to be here, living this moment," Casillas said.

The footballer admitted that his potential return to the pitch would take place in 2020, but he will be able to make that call around March.

"It's a quick process phisically, but slow when it comes to figure things out. We'll see how things go between now and March, and if there are any risks involved, I will be the first one to say no. If things are OK, we will sit down and make a call, but right now, I need to recover and see what path my body follows," Casillas added.

Casillas admitted that even if it will be complicated to say goodbye to the beautiful game, he will not have a problem to let the world know what will happen to him.

"If it's because life is telling me not to keep on playing, I will be the first one to announce my decision," Casillas concluded.

Right now, Porto's net is being guarded regularly by Argentine shot-stopper Agustín Marchesín, who earned the Primeira Liga Goalkeeper of the Month Award in August.
