The former Spanish international is eyeing a move to manage a top English club in the near future.

Former Barcelona star Xavi Hernandez has expressed his desire to manage a top Premier League club in the near future. The ex-Spanish midfielder who is currently in charge of Qatari side Al-Sadd has named Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur as places where he would be keen to continue his coaching practice at.

Xavi, who won a combined 31 trophies for Barcelona and Spain in his playing days, is currently making baby steps in his coaching career in the Qatari league, having initially joined Al-Sadd as a player-coach in 2015. Under his tutelage, the club has risen to first position on the league table, winning all of its first four matches with a 16-goal haul under their belt.

Nevertheless, the former Spanish international still has bigger aspirations than committing his future to managing a team in the Qatari league and, according to him, a move to the English Premier League is one he's looking forward to.

"Obviously if I had to choose, I would choose a big team, City or United, Chelsea , Arsenal or Tottenham ," Xavi told Sky Sports.

"Also, [Jurgen] Klopp and [Mauricio] Pochettino and Unai Emery, many people who have gone there are doing an extraordinary job."

Xavi subsequently commended his former master Pep Guardiola for the project he is spearheading at Manchester City and downplayed any comparison between them.

"Pep Guardiola is the best coach in the world and I am a novice," he said.

"The comparison happened as a player but now we can't be compared. I am in love with Pep Guardiola's football.

"You can win playing football in different ways but I like the one of City and Guardiola the most. I follow the Premier League a lot and I like it.

"He is a brilliant, demanding, passionate, obsessive person, that's why he's doing so well. "It transmits a lot to the footballer. I learned a lot and enjoyed my time at his side."
