Barcelona concedes fastest La Liga goal since 2011

Barcelona concedes fastest La Liga goal since 2011 vs Granada

September 21, 2019 By Emmanuel K. Budu-Annor
The Catalans found themselves on the wrong end of the scoreboard in just a matter of seconds.

Barcelona's trip to Granada on Saturday was met with a rather unexpected opening with the visitors conceding a goal very early into the proceeding. In just 65 seconds following kick-off, the hosts capitalised on a defensive error to force Los Blaugrana into conceding its fastest La Liga goal in over eight years.

The opportunity for Granada to take the lead presented itself after Junior Firpo gave the ball away only for Soldado to setup Puertas. The attacker, who was through on goal attempted a shot and saw his effort deflecting over Ter Stegen. Azeez then reacted quickly to guide the ball into the net, handing Granada a surprise lead at home.

With Lionel Messi looking on from the bench, the Camp Nou outfit secured an unwanted landmark as the goal was the fastest it has conceded since doing so in El Clasico in 2011. In that particular encounter, Karim Benzema gave Real Madrid the lead after just 23 seconds before the Catalans stunned their arch-nemesis through goals from Alexis Sanchez, Xavi Hernandez and Cesc Fabregas.
