Klopp addresses his agent's Liverpool exit claims

Jurgen Klopp addresses his agent's claim about potential Liverpool exit

September 16, 2019 By Emmanuel K. Budu-Annor
The German manager has responded to talks of his likely departure from the Premier League club.

Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp has downplayed speculations that the weather in England could force him to reconsider his decision about prolonging his stay in Merseyside. The agent of the Champions League winning manager, Marc Kosicke, fueled rumors about him vacating his post as the manager of the Reds in an interview with German website Sporx on Tuesday.

In a rather jocular manner, he said: "One has to wait and see how everything develops [regarding Klopp staying or leaving] and whether climate change also brings better weather to England or only to Germany."

In the past, Klopp lamented the rainy wet climate at Liverpool but never considered it as one that could influence his decision to stay or leave his current side. Although he is yet to sign a new deal`to extend his current contract which ends in June 2022, the 52-year-old manager insists that his agent's words may have been taken out of context.

"I think he wanted to make a joke," he said as per Liverpool Echo

"But now I have to be serious because I could make a lot of jokes about the weather, especially when I am sweating like crazy (in Napoli's media room).

"It was German humour and no-one got it. The weather was never a big thing for me to make a decision or choose a city. The weather in Liverpool is not always nice, especially in winter, but in March and September, it is nicer than you would imagine.

"I came in October 2015 and and you could sing a song 'Don't move to Liverpool in October' and until March, for five months, it was not too cool and it was harsh.

"I spoke about the weather a few times, but it was the wind which has had an affect on football, but that is not allowed in England as well, but it is not a reason for me to leave the country.

"I am completely fine with the weather in Liverpool. It's pretty much the opposite of this room right now! So I enjoy it quite often actually."
