The Gunners will have to do without his services until October.

Arsenal are gearing up for a return to action this weekend but have announced terrible news ahead of Sunday's trip to Watford.

The Gunners have announced that they will be without the services of Alexandre Lacazette for a while. The Frenchman, alongside Aubameyang, has begun the season well but he has been visibly struggling with an ankle issue.

The former Lyon ace was a starter in Arsenal's last league fixture, the north London derby. The 28-year-old played a crucial part in that game, scoring their first goal as Emery's men fought from 2-0 down to grab a point.

However, in the second half, he was forced off the pitch due to his reoccurring ankle problem. Fans were hoping he would recover during the international break but this was not the case.

"After assessments to an ongoing ankle issue, we have advised that Alex will need to rest and strengthen his ankle to regain full fitness. Alex has been playing through this injury for several weeks. He is likely to be back in action in October," Arsenal announced on their official website.

The club did not specify when in October will he return but Gooners will be praying it is sooner rather than later. While Lacazette is not and isn't expected to be the Gunners top scorer, his work-rate, link-up play with Aubameyang, and knack for scoring in big games have proven crucial for the Emirates Stadium side.

He has found the back of the net in both of their home games this season. He will now miss a few crucial games, including the Gunners' Europa League opener against Frankfurt and their league trip to Man United on the 30th.

This turn of event means Aubameyang will be played down the middle with Pepe maintaining his position on the flank. It's unknown who will occupy the other spot on the wing, with Nelson and Ozil being two options.
