Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Matt Jarvis has been named in England's squad for the upcoming Euro 2012 qualifier against Wales and friendly against Ghana.
Matt Jarvis has been one of the key figures in Wolves’ dressing room this season and has been rewarded after a string of good performances with an England call-up by Fabio Capello.

Jarvis has been tipped for an England call-up over the past few months and while he has been included in provisional squads before, Jarvis is now a part of the full squad for the qualifier at the Millennium Stadium on Saturday and the friendly against Ghana at Wembley on March 29.

"It was great to get the call tonight confirming I am in the squad," Jarvis told the official Wolves website.

"I'm delighted as you would expect and, to be honest, it's difficult to put it into words at the moment.

"I'd been named in standby for a few of the games this season so it's great that I've finally made it into the squad.

"Like every player, it's been a dream of mine to try and play for England since starting off in the game and getting into the squad takes me one step closer.

"I'll enjoy the news tonight and am really pleased but, from there, it will be a case of joining up tomorrow and trying to impress and do everything I can to get some time on the pitch."

Rio Ferdinand, Steven Gerrard and Theo Walcott all missed out through injuries and even Adam Johnson failed to make the cut after being deemed 'not fit enough'.

Aston Villa fullback Kyle Walker retains his place while Scott Parker also kept his place after continuing to impress with West Ham. The biggest personality of the week was the re-elected England captain John Terry and while there were a few concerns after he picked up a knock in Chelsea's win over Manchester City yesterday, Terry has been cleared to play for England.
