Here's all you need to know ahead of matchday three of the 2019/2020 Serie A season.

After an interruption for the international break Serie A gets back underway with a bang, with Fiorentina vs. Juventus being the first game of matchday three.

Here's everything you need to know ahead of the third round of fixtures for the 2019/2020 Serie A season.

Team news: Who's missing out on matchday three?

Here are some of the players who won't be able to feature for their respective sides:

  • Juventus: Mattia Perin (Shoulder Injury), Aaron Ramsey (Lower back injury), Giorgio Chiellini (Knee injury), Mattia De Sciglio (Muscular injury)

Stats and facts: What's at stake ahead of matchday three?

  • Juventus are hoping to make it three wins in a row at the Stadio Artemio Franchi for the first time since 1952
  • Bologna are looking to make it three matchdays sans defeat for the first time since the 2002/2003 campaign
  • Napoli haven't lost at the Stadio San Paolo to Sampdoria in Serie A since 1998 (D2 W9)
  • Overall, the Partenopei are unbeaten in their last 15 home games against Samp across all comps
  • Inter are seeking to make it a fourth clean sheet at home against Udinese across all comps
  • Milan are aiming to avoid a third straight loss to Verona's home ground. They lost their last two trips here in 2016 and 2017

Talking points ahead of matchday three

Can Milan get their season underway and avoid an embarrassing loss to Verona?

Milan have been kicked out of the Europa League due to violating FFP, but despite only having domestic affairs to focus on, things haven't gone smoothly so far under Marco Giampaolo. They have faced two smaller sides so far and have looked hardly convincing.

A loss to Udinese on matchday one was followed by a narrow win over newly promoted Brescia and now they travel to face Verona. On paper and in the past, Milan would have easily brushed aside Verona, but it's important to note that they did lose their last two trips to that ground in 2016 and 2017.

Inter really looking impressive under Conte - but is it too early to put them down as Scudetto contenders?

Meanwhile, across the city, Inter have started out quite well under Conte. The Nerazzurri have won their opening two games and are aiming to make it three on the trot. The Conte effect appears to be taking root and fans are hoping that this could be the season they knock Juve off their perch.

Remember, Conte arrived at Juve and turned them from has-beens into title winners. Could he do the same with a side who hasn't won the Scudetto since their famed Treble trumph in 2010?
