Here's all you need to know heading into matchday five of the 2019/2020 Ligue 1 season.

Just like Europe's other "Big 5" leagues, Ligue 1 resumes action after being interrupted for international fixtures.

Currently, there are no teams with perfect records. Four sides - reigning champions PSG, Rennes, Nice, and Angers all are joint tied on nine points, but it's Les Parisiens who sit on top thanks to their superior goal difference.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, Dijon, Monaco, and Amiens are among those floundering. Dijon has yet to pick up a single point so far this season.

Here's what you need to know ahead of matchday five.

Team news: Who's missing out on matchday five?

Here are some of the notable players who won't be able to feature for their respective sides:

  • PSG: Edinson Cavani (Hip injury), Kylian Mbappé (Hamstring injury), Julian Draxler (Knock)
  • Lyon: Thiago Mendes (suspended), Youssouf Koné (suspended)
  • Monaco: Jemerson (suspended), Danijel Subasic (Hamstring Injury), Stevan Jovetic (Cruciate Ligament Rupture), Willem Geubbels (knee problems); Pietro Pellegri (fitness problems)
  • Marseille: Florian Thauvin (ankle injury)
  • Lille: Timothy Weah (Muscular issues)

Stats and facts: What's at stake ahead of matchday five?

  • Dijon are hoping for their first ever win against Nimes (they've only played them twice, but have lost twice) as they chase their first points this seaseon
  • Strasbourg have beaten PSG just seven times (D13 L26) and have NEVER beaten them at the Parc des Princes
  • Lyon have never lost to Amiens (W4)

Talking points ahead of matchday five

Strasbourg to prove to be another banana peel for PSG? And will Neymar be drafted into the fold?

They may not have won a game this season, but Strasbourg has proved to be a frustrating side for PSG lately. With Les Parisiens missing both Edinson Cavani and Kylian Mbappé due to injury the hosts have been dealt a major blow - but nonetheless still do have enough quality in attack to deal with their visitors. They did sign Mauro Icardi before the international break, and as Serie A fans are well aware, the Argentinian international is more than capable of scoring plenty of goals as he did during his time with Inter and Sampdoria.

And of course, Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting has been especially impressive as of late, with three goals in his last two appearances for Les Parisiens. That's as many as he accomplished during all of last season for the side (in 22 appearances). In fact, the ex-Stoke City and Schalke man has really been taking advantage of getting some playing time in the absence of Cavani and Mbappe and will be hoping to try to fully force his way into Tuchel's plans - although that will be much easier said than done once the star duo return from injury.

So all in all, PSG aren't exactly lacking for solid choices to lead the line.

That being said, Strasbourg managed to hold PSG to a two-all draw in this same fixture last term and with the Champions League looming, Thomas Tuchel's side may have other concerns to distract them. Another issue is Neymar - how can the team bring him back into the fold after his move to Barcelona collapsed in rather spectacular fashion in the last moments of the transfer deadline window?

Will Monaco come back from the international break with their house in order?

It's still early, but Les Rouges et Blancs are already feeling like they wish they could hit reset on the season. Last term saw them barely avoid the drop, and now with the team still struggling under the burden of injuries things haven't gotten any better.
