The reigning champions take on the newly-promoted side in what is an intriguing fixture. Check out our match preview for more info.

What is the form of Norwich compared to Man City?

Norwich’s form is something off an odd thing. They sit second from last with only three points, having lost four of their five opening games, including their last three. However, despite this, there have been positives. While they were heavily criticized for failing to be pragmatic in their opening day defeat to Liverpool, their approach nearly saw them beat Chelsea.

As for Man City, a draw with Tottenham is the only stain on what would have been a perfect record. Four wins from five have the reigning champions in second, only two points behind Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.

Norwich City vs Man City head-to-head record

The Citizens have lost only nine times in history against the Canaries. Nonetheless, the last defeat was not long back, with Man City losing 2-3 to Norwich in the Premier League back in May 2013.

Team news

The home side have two doubts for this colossal game. The question marks lie over Grant Hanley and Christoph Zimmermann who are facing a race against time to be fit for Saturday’s showdown. Elsewhere, Tom Trybull is the latest name on Norwich’s injury list after taking a knock to the ankle, joining Timm Klose and Onel Hernandez.

Guardiola, meanwhile, has major concerns in defense. John Stones is a doubt for this game, which is worrisome, given that they lost Aymeric Laporte after damaging the cartilage in his knee. The Frenchman is not expected to return this year. Elsewhere, Mendy, Gundogan, and Jesus are doubts.

Could Man City suffer a slip-up?

Norwich City have shown that they are not afraid to attack. The games against Liverpool and then Chelsea showed that the Canaries won’t change their philosophy and park the bus against the top six.

While both those games ended in defeat, it will be a worrying issue for Pep. A defensive approach might have suited Man City well, as they have enough talent going forward to pick apart anyone, given the form of Sterling, De Bruyne, and Aguero.

However, question marks linger over their defense. While the Citizens have kept things tight at the back for the most part, with only Crystal Palace (2) conceding fewer goals than the reigning champions, the recent knocks to Laporte and Stones leave them short on numbers.

The English defender’s issue isn’t serious but with Laporte out, the only fit senior center-back at Pep’s disposal is Otamendi. Kyle Walker could fill that role, but this won’t be ideal, and with Pukki scoring five in five, the home side might just test the visitors.
