One of the fiercest rivalries in the Mexican top-flight is set to make some waves during the upcoming weekend. Get a hold of Liga MX's games with this guide.

Matchday 9 in the Apertura 2019 tournament is upon us to fill the void left by the international break. Teams experienced several changes during the break, including two coaches being sacked, and this weekend's games will surely catch the attention of football fans who are not too keen on watching their national teams.

The tournament is starting to get a bit older, which means that some clubs need to step it up if they want to make it to the playoffs. This week, Querétaro will have to keep their fingers crossed to keep the top spot of the competition, since Santos, América and even Necaxa could leapfrog them if they win their respective games.

Matchday 9's games will begin on Friday, with three matches being played. Saturday will have the highest amount of matches, with four of them scheduled. Sunday will have two more games scheduled, in what should be a nice warmup for Mexico's Independence Day celebrations. Querétaro will be handed a bye due to the odd number of teams involved in this competition.

Without further ado, here are the major talking points ahead of the sixth week of action in the Apertura 2019 tournament.

Guadalajara vs Atlas

The red and white side is desperate to win this clash, since they are currently in 15th place. Atlas is sixth, which means that they enter this game in a far better mood than their bitter rivals. Los Rojinegros have struggled to beat Chivas in recent years, and if they want to end that hoodoo, they will not have a better opportunity to do so than Saturday's match.

América vs Pumas UNAM

América lost their first match of the season before the International break, but they did so after several of their star players came down with different injuries. On the other hand, Pumas has not been as consistent as their fans would want them to, but they are still close to the playoff spots in the league. This will be the second straight weekend in which two of the four most popular teams in Liga MX face each other, and this game will surely hand a wide variety of emotions to those who watch the game or are fortunate enough to make it to Azteca Stadium.
