Real Madrid's annual partners' meeting left a few talking points after Florentino Pérez's message to those in attendance.
Los Blancos' president had to answer questions regarding the members of the squad, including coach Zinedine Zidane. Furthermore, the Spanish tycoon had to issue replies on two transfers that never happened: those involving Paul Pogba and Neymar.
Both players were linked to the club for a number of weeks, but in the end, Florentino Pérez's words left no doubt about why neither one of these footballers ended up joining the team.
Pérez admitted that Pogba was among those players that Real Madrid wanted to sign, but Manchester United's stance on all deals left no room for any negotiation.
"When a team does not want to sell, there's hardly anything to be done," Pérez said.
Speaking about Neymar, the Spanish exec admitted that the club never discussed the possibility of signing the Brazilian ace, with all information on the alleged deal coming from the media and not from within the club.
The Spanish exec admitted that he has high hopes for this season, especially due to the amount of money spent in bringing Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic, Eder Militao and others to the Bernabeu.
"We have never invested so much in players even though we already had a great squad," Pérez concluded.
