As such, Joachim Low's men missed an opportunity to pull level with surprise group leaders Northern Ireland, who are now ahead of them on three points. Meanwhile, Michael O'Neill's side have really put themselves in a good position to actually qualify for next year's EURO tournament thanks to picking up four wins from their first four games. They might not play the most entertaning football, but they're getting the job done. The hosts have scored less than half the goals of Germany (seven versus 15) but have conceded just a measly two versus Germany's six.
