The Selecao superstar was on the wrong end of an awful challenge from Davinson Sanchez.

Neymar made a heroic return to the national side in Brazil’s friendly against Colombia. The talented attacker has endured troubling times, facing criticism over his antics and suffering disappointing injuries, but the 27-year-old showed his worth once more.

The PSG superstar was the key man in the Selecao’s 2-2 draw with Los Cafeteros, with the world’s most expensive player having a hand in both of his nation’s goals. First, he set up Casemiro with a lovely corner-kick cross to break the deadlock. The Ligue 1 ace then went turned finisher, scoring a 58th-minute equalizer after going 2-1 down.

However, his fairy tale return could have ended in a nightmare after finding himself on the wrong end of a rough challenge. The Brazilian was sent flying and crashed headfirst into the advertising board.

This incident came in the last 20 minutes of the game. The perpetrator was Davinson Sanchez, with the Colombian center-back making no attempt to play the ball but instead shoved Neymar from the back with his elbow.

The Tottenham defender was fortunate not to concede a penalty but it remains surprising why a spot-kick wasn’t awarded to the five-time World Cup champions. Neymar was also fortunate, as he escaped this incident unhurt. Check it out in the video below.

Next up for Tite’s side is a clash with Peru. This will be a repeat of the Copa America final, which Brazil won 3-1. Expect an interesting encounter.
