The third weekend of action in La Liga could set a trend for the rest of the competition, especially if the biggest teams involved don't step it up in their attempt to reach the top.
Atlético Madrid finally proved their worth with an impressive come-from-behind win against Eibar, capped by Thomas Partey's last-gasp goal. That goal managed to keep the team's perfect start of the season and gave Los Colchoneros the top spot in the Spanish top-flight all to themselves.

The team from the Spanish capital has reasons to believe in their chances for success, as they hadn't enjoyed such a view from the top since 2014.

As for Barcelona and Real Madrid, both teams have been hit hard by an injury plague. Los Culés have not been able to play with either Luis Suárez or Lionel Messi for the better part of the season, and that has been one of the main reasons why they haven't earned as many points as initially expected. Fortunately for them, the future looks bright with the presence of Ansu Fati.

And just so you don't think we forgot about Real Madrid (or that we are biased in any way), we look back at Los Blancos' 2-2 draw against Villarreal. It's been the third time in a row for the Spanish giants with a similar score there, and they have to thank Gareth Bale for it.
Unfortunately for them, Bale will not be around for their next match, since he picked up a red card in the dying moments of the game. After such a performance -red card included-, fans wondered if he misunderstood what they told him when they asked the Welshman to fill Cristiano Ronaldo's boots.
