The Ghanaian midfielder fired Diego Simeone's side to a vital win in Sunday's game.

Sunday's La Liga clash between Atletico Madrid and Eibar at Wanda Metropolitano almost ended all square but for a late strike by the hosts. The prospect of spoils being shared was thrown out of the window with substitute Thomas Partey grabbing a 90th-minute winner to steal the maximum points for Simeone's side.

The hosts were dealt a huge scare in the preliminary stages of the proceeding with Charles opening the scoring for Eibar in just seven minutes after kick-off. The lead was doubled 12 minutes later by Anaitz Arbilla who made slammed home a strike after the hosts made a mess of clearing a cross into the box.

Summer signing Joao Felix subsequently grabbed his first competitive goal for Atletico to reduce the deficit in the 27th minute before Vitolo restored parity seven minutes after play resumed in the second half. Thomas Partey who replaced Felix in the 83rd minute finally completed the comeback by sending a loosely hit shot past Eibar shot-stopper Dmitrovic into stoppage time.

With the outcome of the day's work, Atletico Madrid leaped to the top spot in the Spanish league with nine points from three games. At moment, Los Rojiblancos are five points clear of Barcelona.

It is worth noting that the last time the Madrid club won all of its first three league matches, the season ended with the title in its camp.
