Here's all you need to know ahead of matchday two of the 2019/2020 Serie A season.

Round one certainly did not disappoint, and there are plenty of teams who will be looking to get off the bat on matchday two after frustrating showings on opening day.

Matchday two will bring some great games already, with Juventus battling Napoli in an early clash for the Scudetto while the Derby della Capitale comes at its earliest point as Lazio tussle with Roma.

Here's everything you need to know ahead of the second round of fixtures for the 2019/2020 Serie A season.

Team news: Who's missing out on matchday two?

Here are some of the players who won't be able to feature for their respective sides:

  • Juventus: Mattia Perin (Shoulder Injury); Aaron Ramsey (Lower back injury); Giorgio Chiellini (Knee injury)
  • AC Milan: Mattia Caldara (Cruciate Ligament Rupture); Theo Hernandez (Ankle Ligament Injury); Lucas Biglia (Adductor problem)
  • Napoli: Arkadiusz Milik (Muscular problems)
  • Roma: Leonardo Spinazzola (Muscular issues); Diego Perotti (Hamstring injury)
  • Lazio: Jordan Lukaku (Knee surgery)
  • Brescia: Mario Balotelli (Red card suspension)

Stats and facts: What's at stake ahead of matchday two?

  • Atalanta have now matched their all-time unbeaten club record of 14 games set back in 1989. This run started from last season, when they went 13 games unbeaten to close out the campaign
  • Ironically, their last defeat was to Torino on February 23rd. Should they avoid a loss to Torino this weekend, they will set a new club record for 15 games sans defeat
  • Juventus will be seeking to make it three straight wins over Napoli in Serie A fixtures for the first time since 1993
  • However, they'll want to be careful, as  Kalidou Koulibaly's goal ended their seven-match unbeaten run versus the Partenopei in 2018
  • Milan have lost just twice against Brescia (W12 D7) at the Stadio San Siro in their Serie A history
  • Romelu Lukaku is hoping to become only the fourth Inter player to net in his first two Serie A games for the Nerazzurri if he can score against Cagliari this weekend
  • Gonzalo Higuain is currently the all-time active top goal-scorer in Juventus-Napoli ties with 8 goals. Should he score, he will move closer to catching Alessandro Del Piero (11)

Talking points ahead of matchday two

Donnarumma vs. Donnarumma in Milan vs. Brescia

No, they don't seem to be closely related - at least as far as we know - but it will certainly be interesting to see Gianluigi Donnarumma versus Alfredo Donnarumma when Milan welcome Brescia to the Stadio San Siro. (Both do come from the same part of Naples, so it's likely they are distant cousins). The latter Donnarumma, of course, was the Capocannoniere in Serie B last season with 25 goals to his name and has already opened his account in the top flight, so he'd certainly love to score against the other Donnarumma in between the posts.

Mario Balotelli, however, won't be able to cause his former club trouble due to a four-match suspension hanging over his head from his time at Marseille.

Gonzalo Higuain to haunt his former club again? Ronaldo vs. Ancelotti, Sarri vs. Napoli - a lot of interesting back-stories and drama as Juventus take on Napoli on Saturday

Higuain was reportedly on the chopping block after two frustrating loan spells at AC Milan and Chelsea but has seemed like a new player recently as he's been restored to his preferred spot as center forward. With eight goals, he's the current active all-time top goal-scorer in Juventus-Napoli clashes and he'll certainly be featuring in the starting XI for Sarri's side against Napoli this Saturday.
