The first Derby della Capitale gets underway this Sunday as Lazio and Roma battle it out for more than just three points. Who will come out on top?

Preview: Lazio vs Roma

Lazio, who wrapped up last season by winning the Coppa Italia against surprise finalists Atalanta, kicked off this season with a resounding 3-0 win over Sampdoria. Simone Inzaghi's side were firmly in control of that game from start to finish as Ciro Immobile grabbed a brace and they'll be looking to get the better of their bitter city rivals who didn't have the strongest opening day against Sampdoria's own derby rivals on matchday one.

Roma, who are currently under the leadership of new coach Paulo Fonseca, recently secured the signing of veteran defender Chris Smalling from Manchester United on loan. However, the English international isn't expected to feature here just yet as he has to get settled in with his new teammates.

The Giallorossi will be looking for a much more improved performance than matchday one which saw them barely hang on for a three-all draw against Sampdoria's cross-town rivals Genoa. Although it was an entertaining game for neutrals and Genoa fans will be happy with that result, Roma certainly wouldn't be, as the Lupi threw away a lead three times, and beating teams like the Grifone are crucial if the capital-based club want to be able to compete for a top-four berth this season.
