The Frenchman completed his move to La Viola after ending his 12-year spell with Bayern Munich last season.

It is official: Frank Ribery will be playing for Fiorentina this season. After calling an end to his illustrious 12-year spell at Bayern Munich, the Frenchman was in need of a club and the Italian outfit came calling.

While rumors of a move to Serie A had been doing the rounds for a while, his move to La Viola was confirmed on Wednesday morning. The 2013 Champions League winner’s transfer was confirmed via Twitter and he was presented with his new jersey much to the excitement of the fans.

He will put pen to paper on a two-year deal which will keep him at the club until 2021 and is the Serie A side’s seventh signing of the transfer window. Whether he can deliver in a different league is a mystery but Ribery is already adapting to the country, with the winger answering questions in Italian.

The 36-year-old was greeted by hundreds of fans and revealed what helped convince him to join Fiorentina. According to the Frenchman, it was none other than La Viola icon and former Bayern Munich team-mate Luca Toni who steered him in this direction.

“I’m happy, I’m here with my family,” Ribery told Gianluca Di Marzio.

“I’ve talked to Fiorentina for the past week, as well as with Toni, who told me Fiorentina were a great club in a beautiful city.

“I’m happy because I like being here, even the language. My grasp of it isn’t perfect, but it’s all good.”

Winning the domestic top-flight, something he became accustomed to at the Allianz Arena, with Fiorentina will be a stretch given the strength of Juventus, Inter Milan, and Napoli. Nonetheless, Frank will be keen on an impressive stint in Italy as he draws closer to the end of his career.
