Los Blancos confirmed that their marquee signing will miss the start of the Liga campaign due to a thigh injury.

With several questions lingering over Real Madrid and whether they can bounce back from the disappointment that was last season, Zinedine Zidane was aiming for a dream start to the upcoming Liga season.

However, the Blancos have now been rocked by a thigh injury to Eden Hazard, picked up during training, that will see him miss Saturday’s trip to Celta Vigo. The Spanish giants confirmed this unfortunate news via their official website.

"Following tests carried out after training today, our player Eden Hazard has been diagnosed the Real Madrid Medical Team with a lesion in the recto anterior muscle of the left thigh. Pending evaluation,” Los Merengues announced in a statement,

This will come as a huge blow to the club who are due to kick off their domestic campaign over the weekend. A trip to Estadio Municipal de Balaídos was never going to be easy but the absence of their marquee signing will makes things all the more difficult for Real Madrid.

The Belgian was brought in over the summer after a prolonged transfer saga. His arrival was deemed to help fill the void left by Cristiano and while the former Chelsea ace failed to impress during the pre-season, his undeniable talent is what Florentino Perez spent big for.

He is now set to miss three weeks of action, possibly four, which means he could miss up to four games – five if there are any complications. Saturday’s Celta Vigo clash is a given but the former Lille sensation could also sit out clashes against Valladolid (H) on the 24th, Villarreal (A) on the first of September, Levante (H) on the 14th, and possibly the September 22 trip to Sevilla, which is just over five weeks away from now.

Vinicius, Gareth Bale, James Rodriguez, Luka Jovic, and Lucas Vazquez; many of which who weren’t going to start, are now in the line for a starting position. Things continue to get tougher for Zidane ahead of the eve of their 2019/20 season.
