Matchday 3 in the Apertura 2019 tournament gave fans a few talking points, such as André-Pierre Gignac's record with Tigres. Even so, the upcoming batch of games in the Mexican top flight promises to give fans their money's worth one more time.
Santos is the only team with a perfect record after three games, but América and Querétaro are closing in behind the league leaders, which means that any slip-up could see Las Águilas or Gallos Blancos making it to the top if things go their way.
There are some teams desperate for a win. Toluca and Pachuca lead that pack, but their games against América and Querétaro won't be a walk in the park. These two teams are joined by Veracruz, who will try to leave that 7-0 embarrassment behind when they host Atlas, a team that just lost their first match of the season.
Matchday 4 in the Apertura 2019 kicks off on Friday with three games, but the real action will take place on Saturday, with four games scheduled to be played on that day. León will be handed a bye due to the odd number of teams involved in this competition.
Without further ado, here are the two most relevant games scheduled to be played this weekend.
Tigres UANL vs Necaxa
There are a couple of reasons why you should watch this game. First off, the Universitario will host a party for their new all-time top scorer, André-Pierre Gignac. Furthermore, Necaxa's visit promises to be quite entertaining, especially after that 7-0 win last week. Will Los Rayos be able to hold their ground against one of the title contenders?
Toluca vs América
Games between América and Toluca are filled with controversy every season, especially due to the rising rivalry between two of the most winning teams in Liga MX history. Toluca does not get to this game on a high, which could see their coach Ricardo La Volpe getting the boot. Will El Bigoton's former team cause his exit on Sunday in the event of a win?
