Özil rules out big-money move to MLS with social media post

The German footballer seems ready to stay at the Emirates despite the interest of European and North American clubs.

Mesut Özil has been linked to several clubs in Europe, with an attempt to join Fenerbahce proving to be unsuccessful weeks ago. Today, the German playmaker decided to en all transfer speculation surrounding his name with a social media post.

The footballer had been linked to a high-profile move to D.C. United, where he would fill the void set to be left by Wayne Rooney once he joins Derby County. Unfortunately for the North American side, Özil does not plan to leave Arsenal, and a brief but strong tweet was the best way he found to let fans know about his intentions.

The former Real Madrid playmaker will want to honor his lucrative deal with Arsenal, where he is one of the highest earning players. Özil's deal with the Gunners ends in 2021, but his time at the Emirates could be cut-short if a good deal gets to the team's front desk. However, that notion seems a bit far-fetched now with less than 24 hours before the end of summer transfer window.
