The Premier League outfit is looking to bring in another defender before the transfer window is closed.

Arsenal is reportedly closing in on a move for Juventus center back Daniele Rugani. The Gunners and the Italian defender have agreed personal terms and the former is expected to begin negotiations with the Serie A champions for the 25-year-old.

Arsenal has already done remarkable business in this summer transfer window with the recruitment of Nicolas Pepe from Lille and Dani Ceballos on loan from Real Madrid. The North London club has also made a step in fixing its recurrent defensive problems with the signing of Saint-Etienne's William Saliba on a long-term contract. However, fans are not satisfied with the arrival of the 18-year-old Frenchman who only managed 13 appearances in Ligue 1 last season.

In a bid to bolster the backline, RB Leipzig's Dayot Upamecano has been identified as a priority signing for Unai Emery's side although all attempts to bring him to Emirates has so far proved futile. According to the Sun, the Gunners have had a second bid of £65 million for the 20-year-old centre back rejected by his Bundesliga club.

With the English transfer window set to close on Thursday, Arsenal has now turned all attention to brokering a deal to bring Rugani on board. As per talkSPORTS, the initial move for the Juventus center back will be a temporary one, with Emery's side holding an obligation to make the transfer permanent for £40m in the future.

Journalist Alfredo Pedulla, has revealed that Rugani could potentially earn £70,000-a-week, amounting to a net-wage of €4 million-a-year (£3.68 million) Meanwhile, Premier League outfit Wolverhampton Wanderers are also reportedly keen on the Italian defender's signing and could be rivalling the Gunners with a formal offer soon.
