The former Manchester United and England captain has been diagnosed with cancer and underwent an operation on the 3rd of March in Bangkok
Bryan Robson is currently the manager of the Thailand National Team and he underwent an operation in Bangkok to remove the tumor in his throat. Although it seemed serious at first, Robson's oncologist is confident that the condition is treatable.

A statement released by United confirmed the news: "Bryan Robson underwent an operation to remove a tumor from his throat on March 3, 2011 in a hospital in Bangkok.

"The laboratory report revealed a cancerous tumor, which will need further treatment. The oncologist is confident that the condition is treatable.

"At this moment Bryan is fine to continue with his role as Thailand coach and his role as ambassador of Manchester United.

"Bryan and his family have requested that he can continue with his treatment in private and ask that their privacy is respected.''

After managerial spells with Bradford City, West Brom and Sheffield United, Bryan Robson replaced Peter Reid as the coach of Thailand in 2009 although he is struggling to make an impact over there.
