FA Community Shield - Where to watch Liverpool vs Manchester City

August 2, 2019 By Oscar Rojas
The match that kicks off all activity for English Premier League teams is set to be a fiery one. Don't miss this exciting clash with our detailed guide.

The 2019 FA Community Shield will keep fans on the edge of their seats on Sunday, as Liverpool and Manchester City face each other in one of the most heated rivalries between English sides in the past few years.

As a quick reminder, only one point separated these teams in the 2018-19 English Premier League, which ended with Manchester City claiming the title. Even if it's considered as a friendly clash, Liverpool will surely try to take this trophy home as a way to get back at the Citizens.

The Reds played seven friendly games before this clash. Klopp's men won three of those, with three more ending in defeat. Their only draw came against Sporting, concluding in a 2-2 draw. On the other side of the pitch, Manchester City played four friendlies, winning three and losing only one, against Wolverhampton, after a penalty shootout.

Manchester City enters this game as the defending champions. The Citizens defeated Chelsea last year with a 2-0 score to claim the title. Sunday's apperance will be their fifth in this decade, with two wins and two losses for the team now coached by Pep Guardiola.

This will be Liverpool's first appearance in the FA Community Shield match in over 13 years, with their last game taking place in 2006. Liverpool is one of the most winning sides in this competition, with 15 trophies to their name. Only Manchester United has won this competition more times, since the Red Devils have taken the trophy home on 21 occasions.

Liverpool will lock horns with Manchester City in this tournament for the first time in history on Sunday.
